Artist
Calli, Luiz Antonio Caligiuri (Calli), who is Brazilian, was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1950, where he lives and works.ítulo aqui
Calli is a visual artist with a heterogeneous background. An architect with a postgraduate degree in Urbanism, he specialized in thematic architecture, carrying out project services and heading several constructions such as shopping malls and theme parks, among others. He also worked as a set designer and art director for over 30 years (20 of those in TV Globo), where he was responsible for the art in over 30 soap operas, mini-series and countless shows. He also worked in cinema and in theatre, always within the realm of set design and art. With all this experience, he decided that it was time to apply his craft to Visual Arts, as he had always illustrated his projects, being a painter and designer who is also proficient at drawing.
His wide experience with set design and art allowed him to take flight in search of new horizons through the world of contemporary art.
As an artist, his history of projects, exhibitions, fairs and art galleries included: Individual – “Vivências”, curated by Geraldo Edson de Andrade, in Centro Cultural Correios Rio de Janeiro, in 2012; Participation through one of his works in the book “Formas & Riscados”- Panorama Rio Artes Visuais, curated by Marly Faro, in 2015, and a participation in a collective exhibition in The Brick Lane Gallery, London, in 2015.
His last individual exhibition was in 2021, at Centro Cultural dos Correios, Rio de Janeiro, with the “PARÁBOLAS VISUAIS” and “VIVÊNCIAS” series, curated by Patrícia Toscano. His works are part of art collections in Brazil and abroad.
